AGV PistaGP SoleLuna 2013

A new season, a new bike and a new Helmet…now here it is. The new Valentino Rossi 2013 helmet: the Valentino Rossi Soleluna 2013!

The Corsa SoleLuna 2013 is the new helmet that Valentino Rossi is currently wearing in the motoGP 2013 season. This helmet replaces the GP Tech Elements which Rossi has had over the past two years.

The very aggressive design of the Corsa / PistaGP can be recognized instantly by its distinctive shape. This new Sole Luna design is featuring Valentino Rossi’s most famous design elements: the Sun and Moon, representing good fortune. These elements have been a constant design element in most of Rossi’s helmets over the years. This new Sun and Moon 2013 helmet will come available in the Corsa design, the AGV flagship helmet model. As usual the SoleLuna 2013 helmet has been designed by the legendary Aldo Drudi, the designer responsible for all the other Valentino Rossi helmets.

PistaGP helmets are full carbon helmets, the extremely light-weight material we know from applications such as the formula 1. The (M) helmet weighs just 1275 grams making it one of the lightest helmets available at this moment.

For all the Rossi fans that want to have this helmet as soon as it is out on the market: The Valentino Rossi SoleLuna 2013 helmet can be pre-ordered now at Champion Helmets making it the first AGV distributor worldwide to bring this helmet to the market. The Valentino Rossi SoleLuna helmet is expected to be released in September/October.

New Dovizioso Airoh GP500 Helmet

It took a while but here it is finally: the new Andrea Dovizioso Helmet. While last year there was no Dovizioso replica helmet at all, this year Airoh launched the brand new 2013 motoGP season Dovizioso replica helmet. Besides a slick design, also tle logo of Dovizioso's motoGP team (Ducati) is featured in the design.

The new Dovizioso replica helmet is an Airoh GP500 model. The Airoh GP500 has 3 shell sizes for an optimal fit and is made from a Carbon Kevlar Fiber construction, weighing 1250 grams. The visor is fitted with a Pinlock system and is prepared for tear-offs. The visor can be removed easily and quickly, and can be locked in position.

It took a while for a Dovizioso helmet to be released, but this helmet was worth waiting for. Where Valentino Rossi was struggling with Ducati last year, Dovizioso seems to better off at his Italian roots. The Italian wears an Italian helmet (Airoh) and rides for an Italian brand (Ducati). The first few races were quite good for Dovi, let's hope there is more where that came from.

The new Valentino Rossi Turtle Helmet

The Grand Prix of Mugello has given us some classic Rossi helmets over the years, such as the 2008 Rossi " face", "The eyeball" design from 2011 and the "Hands on head" from 2009.

Each year Valentino Rossi wears a special tribute helmet to his home Grand Prix: Mugello - Italy. The Mugello helmets of Rossi always bear an illustrative message: a joke, self-irony, an event or even a phase Rossi is experiencing at that time. The revelation of the helmet is always a media spectacle, with dozens of journalists/photographer gathering around Rossi's pitbox to see what design he comes up with.

This year's special Mugello helmet is the Valentino Rossi Turtle helmet which features the famous turtle that Rossi usually wears on his visor which is also a tattoo on his body.

The helmet is called The turtle by his fans. Why Valentino Rossi chose a turtle? “Because I like the animal a lot. I had it as a mascot from when I was very young.” Another funny item on the helmet is an illustration of some small figures of what seem to be Marquez, Pedrosa and Lorenzo running away from The Doctor while he is trying to keep up with them. The illustration stands for the championship ranking where Rossi is falling behind more each race, with just one podium so far in the motoGP 2013 season (Qatar).

Funny about this helmet is that it gives such a strong contrast between on one side true slowness (turtle) and on the other side high speed (being on the helmet of a motogp rider).

Valentino's turtle is brought to life in this design by the legendary Aldo Drudi, the designer of all the Rossi helmets. This Valentino Rossi Limited edition helmet will become the next PistaGP model of Rossi to come out next to the PistaGP Elements, PistaGP Project 46 and the Valentino Rossi SoleLuna 2013. All PistaGP helmets are full carbon helmets, the extremely light-weight material we know from applications such as the formula 1.

This helmet will be taken into production after the SoleLuna 2013. Follow this blog to find out more!
